5 things that can make someone lose interest in you during the talking stage
1. Constantly asking for money.
There’s nothing wrong with needing help sometimes, but if every conversation eventually turns into “Can you send me something?”, the other person may start feeling like they are being valued for what they can provide financially rather than who they are.
2. Love bombing.
Calling someone “my wife,” “my husband,” or “the love of my life” after a few days can feel exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming. Let the connection develop naturally. Genuine affection doesn’t need to be rushed.
3. Being inconsistent.
Today you’re extremely interested. Tomorrow you disappear. Today you want to talk all night. Tomorrow you barely respond. Consistency creates trust, while constant hot-and-cold behavior can make someone lose interest even if they initially liked you.
4. Constantly talking about your ex.
If every conversation somehow leads back to your ex, people may wonder whether you’re actually ready for someone new. It’s okay to discuss your past, but don’t make your new connection feel like they’re competing with someone who isn’t even there.
5. Having no clear intentions.
Not everyone wants marriage immediately, and that’s perfectly fine. But you should be honest about what you’re looking for. If you want something casual, say it. If you’re looking for a serious relationship, say it. If you’re still figuring things out, communicate that too.
The talking stage is not just about impressing someone. It’s about discovering whether the two of you are actually compatible.
Be intentional. Be consistent. Communicate honestly. And most importantly, don’t pretend to be someone you’re not just to keep someone’s attention.
